We collect and use Personally Identifiable Information (PII) and other information from our customers in the following ways:
Personally Identifiable Information (as defined in the law or laws giving effect to the EU Data Protection Directive) provided by you as part of your subscription registration process is used by us to service and fulfil your account and to provide such additional services and information to you as we reasonably think appropriate. As part of this, we will export PII to our affiliate organisation (Reed Elsevier Inc.) and other data processors outside of the EEA. Subject to the foregoing, we will protect your PII with appropriate levels of security and we will comply with the applicable data protection law. You undertake that you have permission of any Data Subject in respect of any PII that you send to us.
You may choose to provide valid credit or debit card information to make a purchase via our web sites. Any transactional information provided by you will be used by us to process a transaction and may be used to process future transactions at your request. Your credit or debit card number, card holder name, start date, expiry date, issue number, Card Verification Number and related transaction information (such as delivery address) will be stored securely by Reed Elsevier and will be retained in order to facilitate and personalise future transactions with you.
We may use the contact details provided by you (such as your name, job title, telephone and fax number and your e-mail and postal addresses) to keep you informed about relevant new goods and services that we think will be of interest to you, either by post, phone or e-mail. Requesting Information (Subject Access Requests)

We may pass on / refer PII and other details to trustworthy third parties to provide you with information about their services and products. We will also pass such details on to third parties where such a third party provides a service to us which is ancillary to our business, our subcontractor, agent or advisor, or to any regulatory or investigative body as may be required.
We will collect and use computer connection information such as your IP (Internet Protocol) address, browser type + version, operating system + platform, search terms + related preferences, date + time of access, login credentials and the full URL (Uniform Resource Locator) click-stream to, through and from any LexisNexis® Butterworths® web sites. Collection of this information is used to monitor and analyse your web site usage so as to identify trends, optimise your use of web sites, provide you with preference related marketing and to provide a safer environment for purchasing. This information will be shared with analytics service providers: Unica, Google and Webtrends. You should refer to the privacy policies of these sites to ascertain how these companies may also analyse or use your computer connection information. Other PII captured by LexisNexis® Butterworths® may be used by LexisNexis® Butterworths® in association with this computer connection data but will not be shared back with these companies. By using a LexisNexis® Butterworths® web site you accept that your PII may be used for these analytical purposes in addition to any others described.
Changes to this policy will be posted here. However, where you have signed a specific set of terms and conditions, any term relating to PII contained in such agreement shall override any terms contained here which are inconsistent with such agreement.

Personally Identifiable Information Privacy Statement At Reed Elsevier, we comply with our obligations relating to the collection and storage of Personally Identifiable Information ("PII"). In particular, we understand the importance of maintaining the confidentiality of your CV and other information collected from you while using the site. As part of this application process, Reed Elsevier will collect information about your skills and interests, which will be matched against our current job requirements. If a match is found in the online preliminary screening, you may be invited to complete an online assessment that measures your experiences and accomplishments as well as your attitudes and preferences on various work-related subjects.
The profile created from this assessment will be stored in the Reed Elsevier candidate database, which is hosted in the United States of America. You will be able to access, correct, update, modify and delete your PII on the Reed Elsevier candidate database. You may withdraw from active candidacy for employment by Reed Elsevier at any time by advising us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Unless deleted by you, Reed Elsevier will retain your PII for up to two years from the date it is last actively used, as required by applicable laws.
While your record remains active we will use the PII you provide to assess potential matches to vacancies in our organisation and to send you announcements relating to employment opportunities available in Reed Elsevier for which we believe you may be suitable.
For these purposes Reed Elsevier may share your candidate record and PII with other Reed Elsevier companies and employees located in our offices around the world. In the event that any Reed Elsevier company ceases to be part of the Reed Elsevier Group plc group of companies that company will continue to have access to your data and will continue to comply with this statement. By entering the application process you consent to this and recognise that such other countries may not provide an equivalent level of protection as the data protection laws in your home country.
If you are considered for employment by any Reed Elsevier company that company may share your PII with other companies acting on Reed Elsevier's behalf to provide employment verification services, such as background checking organisations or assessment test providers. Reed Elsevier may also share your PII upon request from a law enforcement agency or as appropriate in connection with a legal requirement, such as a court order or regulatory obligation.
Reed Elsevier will not trade, rent or sell or share your PII to other third parties and will not, except as specifically provided in this statement, share your data with any third party. Reed Elsevier may contact you at any time during your candidacy for employment. If you no longer wish to be contacted you are able to unsubscribe to mailings via the database at any time.
Candidates should be aware that providing false information during any of the steps of the application process may lead to rejection of the application or termination of any subsequent employment. Additionally, candidates may be required to produce original documents to verify employment eligibility & identification.
